June is just around the corner, and what better way to celebrate Pride Month than with a curated list of Thai GL series for my fellow queer binge-watchers?
I’ve noticed a surge in the popularity of GL series lately, with terms like “GL series” (where the concept originated from Yuri genre) trending all over the internet.
When I first encountered the term “GL series” in my search results, I was curious about its meaning and why it was generating so much excitement.
After a quick dive, I discovered that GL stands for “girls’ love,” a genre celebrating romantic relationships between women. While this genre has existed for a while, only a few content creators have been bold enough to invest in making movies and series of this kind. However, there’s now a notable emerging trend of GL series being produced, with Thailand becoming a significant contributor.
Thailand has been gaining recognition for its vibrant and diverse media landscape, especially in the realm of LGBTQ+ content. The country’s willingness to explore and celebrate different facets of love has led to a boom in GL series production. These shows often feature strong narratives, relatable characters, and high production values, drawing in viewers from around the globe.
Without further ado, here’s a list of the most popular and recent Thai GL series you can enjoy this Pride Month. Some of these Yuri series can be watched for free on YouTube, while others are available on streaming services like Netflix:
